@StewieSwan I thought you said God wasn’t real.
@tdawgheath lol no, he writes a lot of guitar riffs and dan goes off of him using techniques like counterpoint and various other theory based things.
lets not forget that thomas sings while playing those super original riffs of his.. illest musician of the decade…imagine if he was just a lead guitarist not.. lead guitarist/lead vocalist… now that would be something
What about A.J. Minette from The Human Abstract? D:
as a guitarist, learning the songs of protest the hero is easy…between the buried and me is tricky and fall of troy is near impossible…mostly the creative style of thomas erak that can’t quite be copied. so thomas wins
@Kush521 What exactly is a reverse scale…?
Here’s my opinion on all this nonsense. As far as the pure skill of hands, I think that Luke is right there with Paul, with Thomas trailing by a long shot. Thomas’ and Paul’s « Out of key » composition are due to 2 different things. Firstly, Paul attended a university for music. Secondly, Thomas has an obvious jazz influence. If Luke had as much musical knowledge as Paul, he would be just as good. But my opinion is Paul>Luke>Thomas.
@RadioNothsa nicely put.
Protest + Btbam = tour, soon, as in now/asap.
@razorguitar777 lol dude, i full heartedly agree with you. he is shit. i never saw what the fuss over his music was all about. i dunno what came over me XD
@metalaxe888 i never said im better or can write better stuff but all erak does is random pull offs and noise, it sounds cool i admit but Protest and BtBaM are just such more insane and technical stuff, ur just a jaded FoT fan tht cant accept tht Erak isnt the greatest musician ever, grow up u bellend
@metalaxe888 and dude paul is better then all of them put together.
@metalaxe888 due what the fuck?? with respect to you man i fuckinh hate jimi hendrix. he is to me what acdc, the same shit over and over again/ so a fucking drug addict hippy played guitar and spreaded the word of peace and love during a generation where over half of america was into the hippy culture. he got popular because of what was popularin the 60′s and 70s dude. and think all those people had kids and grew up listening to him and praised him as such a great guitarist. man he is shit.
@razorguitar777 creativity and preciseness doesn’t mean anything unless it sounds good. listen to Paul Gilberts, he’s really creative and precise, but really compare his melodies to Thomas’s and you’ll see what I mean. or for another example, hendrix, he’s not the most « precise » or technical player out there but his sense of melody and expression is amazing. much like Thomas Erak.
@andrico1234 andrico stfu. you’ve played guitar for several months and you think you know how to write music. just cause you can play a song doesn’t mean you can write anything like it. write ONE song better than fall of troy then i won’t piss myself laughing at your stupid comment
@metalaxe888 tbh Tom Erak has no idea what hes doingi like him, its all random pull offs and tapping…i only play guitar since november and i can somewhat do his songs (Ex-creations, FCPREMIX and Enter the Black demon) but i cant do any of the other bands songs cos theyu are just too awesome
@metalaxe888 wow with all respect dude you dont know what the fuck your talking about. at least about paul waggoner anways. that mother fucker is the most creative and talented guitarist i know. not the most skilled cause hell rusty cooley and all that shit, but definitely the most creative and precise
i prefer Thomas Erak out of them all. imo he is the only one that knows how to write real melodies. the other guitarist’s stuff are all wishy washy like dream theatre. all those notes and no direction :/
waggoner: delivery
this guy’s an absolute expert at putting every note right where it needs to be to make every song he graces sound as epic as possible, regardless of the style he’s trying to resemble.
hoskin: technicality
protest the hero exemplifies concept mathrock on steriods. luke hoskin has a technical prowess that only a man with platinum in his wrists can pull off.
erak: creativity/emotion
hair and all, mr. erak shreads and sings with the passion of jesus fucking christ! amazing…
I like Erak and Waggoner both. They both do different things, and both Waggoner and Erak go out of key. They both know scales and how to use them to their style of playing, and you don’t have to stay in a scale. You can go outside of the scale, and both of them do this. It’s called dissonanace and they both have used chromatics which uses outside notes.
