First, try asking your local imam for advice – perhaps the masjid offers classes or would offer classes if people asked for them.
If your masjid does not offer any classes, then perhaps the imam can recommend some good books for students. I enjoy Ghazali’s « Revival of the Religious Sciences », but there are many excellent books available, depending on your language skills.
how about those seeking knowledge of islam, but cannot afford to take classes? how should they advance their studies?
Thanks for the comment. There are many excellent and educated Muslims, but not all have attended a jamia for advanced studies – so we ask daiyas for dawa, not for fatwas.
Jamia Azhar and Jamia Qarawyn are only examples of good institutions – but inchalla every country has its own good schools with ijazat.

Thing is that we Muslims doesnt have consensus on institutions, e.g. in my country there are ppl who dont consider the Jamia Azhar as authentic institution, since they follow different school of thought. And finally what would you say about Imam Hassanul Bana, Imam Qutub, I thought, there were not « Qualified » from Jamia Azhar or any other renowned institution or what about Mr. Abul A’la of Pakistan or Dr. Zakir Naik of India. However its a nice talk.
