Andrew Phillip Cunanan was a Filipino American spree killer who murdered five people, including fashion designer Gianni Versace, during a three-month period in 1997, ending with Cunanan’s suicide, at age 27. On June 12, 1997, Cunanan became the 449th fugitive to be listed by the FBI on the FBI Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list, and became the first person from San Diego to be placed on that list.

Yeah there was a lot of mistakes made that could have caught this guy earlier. He was at a sandwich shop 4 days before he shot Versace. The clerk recognized him, went to call the police. But the other co-worker gave him his sandwich/change and he walked out. Then there was another blunder where he pawned a gold coin, and they usually fax over a copy of the info to the police station, and the police station clerk there didn’t check it in time…..

The FBI fucked up. How he could go undetected in Miami for over two months is just plain ludicrous. Even the truck he stole from Reese was parked in a public parking area near to the hotel he was staying at for two months, and no one bothered to check. Versace could have been saved if the police and FBI had done their jobs properly.
